COOL COOL COOL!  The only sun glasses I wear are glacier glasses. I've worn them so long now; that any other glasses just don't seem to block out enough light; and I get stray light coming thru the sides.

Knowing this; a buddy of mine got me these glasses at a thrift store.  Now I'm in search of information on them.  I'm convinced they are not reproductions.

The side says "UVEX" And there are two companies "Uvex" and "Uvex Sports" both make glasses; but neither has returned my emails or calls on ID'ing them.

REI, where they were originally purchased for $2.95!  (You can't get good Glacier glasses for under $100 these days! ), was a bit more helpful.

These are REALLY cool!  I've seen those early pictures of Everest climbers wearing these.  If you know ANYTHING about these; or know where I can find something; please let me know.

According to an REI manager (At Redmond, WA store, They were purchased at the Seattle, WA store originally), these are at least 30 years old!  In perfect shape; except for one small dent in the metal case.  Amazing!  State of the art for the 60's!

If you're interested; my "daily" pair are an older pair of Julbo's (forget the model) - but for mountaineering and backpacking; I use a pair of Cebe's "Mountaineering Special" because they are lighter.  When going up on actual glaciers; I have another pair of Cebe's that provide better vision/less peripheral vision cut off.  All three of these glasses cut out 100% of UV light and 97% of "visible" light.  I have no information on the Uvex glasses.
