Here's the new boom. Don't tell me I spent too much; I know it.  If the 1st guy (now known on the island as "The Master Mariner" due to the work he did for me and a few other people -- and, get this, he announced to all of us "I'm a master mariner")  hadn't screwed it up & lost parts, it would have been a lot cheaper.

The total cost: $1,200 give or take, and the only "re-used" bits were the end caps, boom vang attach point, and one block.

So here's the pics of the new boom:

Bonus picture: While at a friends house today; here's a 2 masted schooner, looks nice; picture looked too good to crop...
Here's the mast end; Green line is reef, blue is outhaul.  Dig the block so I can easily tension from any direction.
Look how nice & tight that is to the boom!  My old one was pulling out a bit.
A general overview, red line is topping lift, coming out at the back and the side, green line is reef.
just so you can see, the outhaul comes out of the sheeve there fore  of the topping lift & reefing
