Here's the new boom. Don't tell me I spent too much; I know it. If the
1st guy (now known on the island as "The Master
Mariner" due to the work he did for me and a few other people -- and, get
this, he announced to all of us "I'm a master mariner")
hadn't screwed it up & lost parts, it would have been a lot cheaper.
The total cost: $1,200 give or take, and the only "re-used" bits
were the end caps, boom vang attach point, and one block.
So here's the pics of the new boom:
| Bonus picture: While at a friends house today; here's a 2
masted schooner, looks nice; picture looked too good to crop... |
 |
| Here's the mast end; Green line is reef, blue is
outhaul. Dig the block so I can easily tension from any direction. |
 |
| Look how nice & tight that is to the boom! My old
one was pulling out a bit. |
 |
| A general overview, red line is topping lift, coming out at
the back and the side, green line is reef. |
 |
| just so you can see, the outhaul comes out of the sheeve
there fore of the topping lift & reefing |
